Toirakau Paoa Powered by Iconiq Group. Building Better Futures.

He tāngata,
he tāngata,
he tāngata
Opened in January 2022, Toirakau Pāoa was established to meet the needs of Te Tairāwhiti, Gisborne, and the wider east coast region of Aotearoa, New Zealand. As an area already facing significant challenges due to a shortage in quality housing, the east coast is also susceptible to heavy rainfall events, which often lead to localised flooding and landslides. Dynamic Training. Unparalleled learning.
When our Toirakau Pāoa apprentices are not working on urgent housing projects being run through our OSM Relocatables facility, they support ICONIQ Construction Group on its other building projects across the region. This not only provides excellent variety in training , but broadens their skillset, to cover all aspects of modern construction. In the field, in less controlled conditions, they learn how to deal with environmental factors, they would otherwise not encounter with OSM construction.
ICONIQ Construction Group is proud to be leading the way for training in Off-Site Manufacturing [OSM] of relocatable dwellings. Off-site manufacturing has been part of New Zealand’s construction scene in differing forms for decades. When carefully managed, and executed to exacting standards, OSM delivers considerable benefits to all stages of the construction process.
2 – 4 Bedroom Apartments
ICONIQ Group was a pioneer in the development of affordable, yet contemporary 3-level walk-up apartments in Gisborne.
Our first development was on Palmerston Road, and these high-quality homes were built, in conjunction with local construction company Best Builds, to help attract Health
Professionals to Gisborne to live and work. We are very proud to be working with organisations that are delivering better social outcomes for the region.
I speak on behalf of the boys, when I say how lucky we feel to have a programme like Toirakau Pāoa right here in Gisborne.
The opportunities we are being given, to learn both traditional construction and cutting edge methods such as OSM, is amazing – and something not everyone gets exposed to in other apprenticeship schemes
